Keelung Chung Cheng Park
Chung Cheng Park stands high on Keelung hill and has been a famous tourist spot. Visitors can enjoy a marvelous view of the Keelung harbor, by day or by night. In the park, there are Martyrs Shrine, ocean-viewing pavilion, Buddhist library, a Maitreya statute and a 22.5-meter statute of Guangyin Goddess. The park is also an important place to stage a series of ceremonies celebrating the Ghost Festival on lunar July 15th. The ceremonies are a spectacular mix of cultural activities and folk arts, making the night of keeling extremely attractive
Chinkuashih
Chinkuashih and Jiufeng had their heyday at the turn of the century and were called "homeland of gold." As the mining business faded in the'60s, the glory went into history but opened a door for successful tourism development.
Chinkuashih has her special charm of purity. It has attracted many nostalgic visitors trying to recoup the past. The curvy and steep mountainsides require visitors to stop and ask local people for road direction. If time allowed, visitors are advised to stay a few days more to appreciate the changing charms of the coastal mountain village.
Jiufen Old Streets
Jiufen old streets including Chinbien road, Jishan road, Chicher road and Shuchi road are the most lively area in the village. Jishan road is famous for the concentration of vernacular eateries. Taro cake is the most famous traditional delicacy. Shuchi road criss-crossing with the other three roads is famous for tea-tasting houses.
Jiufen was once a gold mine village in Taiwan. Its closely-packed houses cling to misty mountainsides, and continue to offer great scenery and fascinating glimpses into the lifestyles of the past.
Pitou Cape Park
Pitou Cape stands at the cross point of the Pacific Ocean and the East Sea. The extruded cape extends into the sea and is constantly eroded by tides, currents and waves. Capes, platforms, and other oddly eroded rocks and landforms can be found at the base of its cliffs.
Yehliu Special Geological Park
Yehliu was made by platform movement some 20 million years ago, with a promontory stretching into the sea to form the park. Weather, erosion, and other natural forces have etched the volcanic rocks into many artistic shapes. There are plenty of oddly shaped rocks, fossil remains and veins of colored minerals. To name a few famous rock formations: queen's head rock, mushroom rock, ginger rock, lady shoe rock, globe rock, elephant rock.
Nanya Rock Formations
As a result of wind and water erosion of sandstone, strange rock formations abound in Nanya area. The stones laden with veins of iron, when oxidized by wind and exposed with stripes in different depths, are indeed dazzling. The best-known formation is a giant rock in resemblance of an ice-cream and called the Nanya Odd Rock.
Bay of Two Colors
It is one of the most representable scenes in Chinkuashih, with yellow and blue seawater clearly distinquished in the bay. The different colors are caused by the mine-rich river inpour which brings abundant mine sands dyeing the downstream into the ocean from yellow to tan and creating an obvious color contrast.
