to Taichung (by bus)
Pick up at hotel by tour guide and start

Leave for Taichung city. The night stays

Taichung
to Sun Moon Lake to Kaohsiung (by bus)
Check out hotel and leave for Sun Moon
Lake.
Upon arrival, enjoy the Sun Moon Lake
Tour. The stops include Wenwu Temple,
Te Hua Village, Tse En Pagoda and Holy
Monk Shrine.
Noon time, lunch at The Lalu Hotel
Leave for Kaohsiung City.

Check out and depart for Kaohsiung Tour.

Leave for Kaohsiung Airport to take
plane to Hualien.

Check out and proceed to Taroko Gorge,

Afternoon, visit Hualien marble factory
and its showroom .
When the tour ends, return to Taipei
by train and transfer to hotel.

Taipei 101 Tower |

The
world's tallest building, Taipei
101 Tower, was officially open on
Dec. 31, 2004, after seven years
of construction. The Tower is of
508 meter high with 101 floors.
The Taipei 101 Mall, from the first
floor to the fifth floor, accommodates
thousands chic shops of world-famous
brands, Page One Bookstore, supermarkets
and food courts. The 6th floor and
above are reserved for offices of
international firms.
The
Observatory floor officially opened
on Jan 19, 2005, faciliated numbers
of restaurants, bars and souvenir
shops on the observatory floor.

Sun
Moon Lake |

Sun
Moon Lake is the largest fresh-water
lake in Taiwan and a national level
tourism location well known to the
world.
Lalu
Island that divides Sun Moon Lake
was originally called Pearl Island,
once the place where Thao minority
tribe used to reside. Nowadays,
Sun Mook Lake is still the inhabitant
of aboriginal Thao tribe. Since
Lalu Island is the spiritual land
for the ancestors of Thao tribe,
boarding the islet is allowed only
at specific period of time and days.
Currently, there are 12 tablets
explaining the history, customs
and culture of Thao tribe. Visitors
not able to board on the islet can
follow the explanation to match
with what they see from a distance.

Wenwu Temple |

Wenwu
Temple is situated on the north
mountainside of Sun Moon Lake. There
is a marble tablet writes "Wenwu
Temple" in front side and "Uphold
Literacy" and "Emphasize
Strength" on two sides.
The
temple structure includes one courtyard,
two halls and three palaces, which
is exactly the layout seen in most
Taiwan temples. The centrally located
Main Palace serving Chinese General
Guang Yu is called "Palace
of Martial Deity." The Rear
Palace is dedicated to Confucius
and called "Dachen Palace." |
Tse En Pagoda |
 |
Tse
En Pagoda was built by Chiang Kai-shek
in 1971 in commemoration of his beloved
mother. With a height of 9 floors
, the pagoda is the landmark of Sun
Moon Lake. The top point of the pagoda,
exactly 1,000 meters above sea level,
serves to be the best place to enjoy
the Sun Moon Lake scene, with the
Sun Lake to the right and the Moon
Lake to the left. |
Holy Monk Shrine

Holy
Monk Shrine serves Xuan Zhuang,
the holy monk, relics and Sakyamuni
gold relics. Xuan Zhuang was an
eminent monk in the Tang Dynasty
who contributed a great deal to
the development of Buddhism in China.

Love River by Night
|

Love
River which used to be a shallow
river underwent through some dredging
work to become a city canal.
Visitors are advised to take a Love
River Boat trip to see the many
beautifully lit bridges, especially
Chung Chen Bridge, Chixian Bridge
and Wufu Bridge. The colors of the
bridge lightings are exquisitely
designed to match with the colors
of river-side lit buildings, making
Love River a spectacular view at
night. |
Lio Ho Night Market

Conveniently
located at the center of Kaohsiung
city, Lio Ho night market is only
steps from Kaohisung railroad station.
It is the most popular night market
with more than 130 stands providing
various snacks, entertainments and
bargains. There are plenty of budget
steak houses and food courts offering
famous local drink, papaya milk.

Foguangshan (Mountain of Buddha
Light)

Foguangshan
is not only an important Buddhism
center but also a popular tourist
destination, since it is set in
a beautiful mountainous area and
well known for its many temples,
halls, gardens, and Buddha statues,
including a giant Buddha that can
be seen from far away. Every year
during Lantern Festival in Feb.,
Foguangshan is always crowded by
lots of people and traffic going
for the famous lantern riddle-guessing
game. |
Ami Cultural Village
|
|
Ami
is the largest tribal group among
the 19 aboriginal tribes in Taiwan,
today numbering about 140,000. The
word Ami was originally called by
Bainan tribe. Ami people call themselves
"Pangcah" (means "people"
in their language).
The Ami tribe keeps well its versatile
traditional culture including community
system, architecture, clothing,
dancing, craftworks and ceremonies,
which has become an important cultural
asset of Taiwan. Ami tribe organizes
the largest regular gathering in
celebration of the harvest time
around July-Aug. every year. The
festival lasts 3 to 7 full days
and offers a social platform for
different tribal groupings to perform
skills and to have fun. In addition
to enjoy the revelry, visitors are
able to enjoy aboriginal cuisine
made from red glutinous rice, salty
pork, wild gourd melon, bamboo shoot,
rattan core and areca core. |
Tienshiang Scenic Area

|
Being
a separating lankmark, Tienhsiang
to its east is composed of marble
and to the west of Schist. Visitors
can easily see the difference of
rocks on the two sides of Tienhsiang.
There are many lodging places in
Tienhsiung such as Formosa Regent
and Youth' Activity Center. |
Chang Kai-shek Memorial Hall |

Located
in the center of Taipei, the CKS
Memorial Hall occupies a total area
of 250,000 square meters. The main
building is easily recognized by
its octagonal shape, blue tiled
roof and snow white walls, surrounded
by spacious grassland.
It
is not only a memorial hall built
for the former president but also
a national cultural center, with
galleries and auditorium rooms.
Besides,the National Theater and
the National Concert Hall nearby
also stage large-scale performing
arts all year round. |
The Martyrs Shrine |

Located
right next to Grand Palace Hotel,
the Martyrs Shrine was built in
its grand and magnificent architectural
style as similar as the Taihe Dian
Imperial Palace in Beijing and consecrate
330,000 sacrificed officers and
soldiers during Sino-Japanese War
and Kuomintang and Communist Parties
war. Each spring and autumn the
president of Taiwan holds memorial
ritual and leads government's officials
in a public worship. |
National Palace Museum |

Located
at the outskirts of Taipei, the
National Palace Museum without doubt
is the first step for any foreign
visitor intending to explore the
splendid Chinese culture. The Museum
collects more than 650,000 pieces
of precious Chinese art works and
relics. Its abundant collections
are divided into calligraphies,
paintings, documentaries, imperial
files from Qing Dynasty, bronzes,
jades, potteries and porcelains,
silk tapestries and other precious
objects, covering a time span of
7000 years in Chinese history. It
is the most comprehensive museum
of Chinese culture in the world.

Te Hua Village |

The
Yiyong street near Tehua Village
is the most revel walk path around
Sun Moon Lake. On the street there
are a lot of eateries and shops
selling Thao tribe souvenirs. The
frequent see souvenir is the hand-made
clothing made by the Thao people.
Visitors
can also try special Thao dishes
and the famous President Fish, and
finish their meal with tasty mountain
tea. |
Spring and Autumn Pavilion &
Dragon and Tiger Pagoda |

These
buildings are the landmarks around
Chenchin Lake. Visitors riding around
the lake will enjoy a feast of lake
scenes and temples. The Dragon and
Tiger Pagoda is dedicated to Life-saving
Deity; Spring and Autumn Pavilion
to Guangong, Yuefei and Zheng Chengong;
and Yuandi Temple to Shuantien Deity. |
Eternal Spring Shrine

These
buildings are the landmarks around
Chenchin Lake. Visitors riding around
the lake will enjoy a feast of lake
scenes and temples. The Dragon and
Tiger Pagoda is dedicated to Life-saving
Deity; Spring and Autumn Pavilion
to Guangong, Yuefei and Zheng Chengong;
and Yuandi Temple to Shuantien Deity. |
Swallow Caves
|
|
Swallow
Caves are next to Liwu River and
opposite to the central cross-island
highway. Visitors inside the cave
are amazed by the steep marble cliffs,
with many holes of different sizes.
The cave gets its name as legend
says that flocks of swallows used
to nesting in these holes.
Just a few steps out of Swallow
Caves, there are many oddly shaped
rocks formatted by river erosion.
The must-see is the one shaped by
natural force as an Indian man's
profile. |
Tunnel of Nine Turns
|

In
fact, there are not only nine turns
in this tourist spot. The number
of nine for the Chinese stands for
"many." As the name suggests,
visitors will encounter many caves,
gorges and cliffs. Every time after
a rain shower, lots of rain falls
from the cliff walls and forms a
spectacular scene of periodical
rain waterfalls.
Pass
the entrance of the tunnel and keep
walking for about 30 minutes, visitors
will pass by a lively rock named
as "fish fries over dragon
door", naturally eroded by
Liwu river. Afterwards, there are
plenty of gorgeous marble gorges
and canyons.From Swallow Caves to
the Tunnel of Nine Turns, visitors
are advised to slow down the car
for a close look of the surrounding
cliffs, especially the most famous
Zhuai-Lu Cliff. It is a typical
marble canyon eroded by Liwu River,
with the highest point of 1,666
meters and a length of 1,200 meters.

Marble Factory & Showroom
|
|
Hualien
has experienced numerous times of
geologic metamorphism and therefore
has a huge deposit of marbles of
different strips and shapes. Many
stone sculptures and artisans cluster
here to craft an amazing range of
products. Hualien also hosts the
International Stone Sculpture Festival
every two year.
