Take a domestic flight to Mandalay, a city of great cultural importance, where you will have a traditional tour by visiting Mahamuni Pagoda, local artisanal gold leaf making, wood carving and marble carving workshops, Golden Palace Monastery, Kuthodaw Pagoda and a 200-year-old teak bridge, the most photographic site in Myanmar.

Enjoy a boat tour on Irrawaddy River to explore Mingun. Visit the Mingun Bell, Hsinbyume Pagoda and the unfinished Mingun Paya. Take a stroll through Mingun where local craftsmen craft artistic items like traditional basketry. After returning to Mandalay, visit the ruins of the Royal Palace. You will take a domestic flight back to Yangon and connect for homebound flight.

 

Itinerary Overview

 

Day 1: Arrival in Yangon (No meal)

Upon arrival at Yangon airport, your tour guide will meet and welcome you. Start your downtown tour at the historic Post Office followed by Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument. Visit the famous Chauk Htat Gyi, home to a 70-meter long reclining Buddha. Take photos at the picturesque Karaweik Hall royal floating barge. Round off your day with an amazing sunset view at Shwedagon Pagoda.

 

Day 2: Yangon – Bagan (Breakfast)

Morning domestic flight to Bagan and immerse in the bustling atmosphere of a local market. Explore the town’s architectural masterpieces by visiting the most important pagodas and temples. Climb to the top of the temple for magical sunset views.

 

Day 3: Bagan – Irrawaddy River – Bagan (Breakfast)

Scenic Irrawaddy
See most Myanmar people’s real way of life by visiting villages near Bagan. Explore Bagan from a different perspective as you travel on a pony cart. Transfer to jetty and enjoy fabulous views as you cruise down the Irrawaddy River to Shwezigon Pagoda. Catch the spectacular sunset from the boat to end off your day.

 

Day 4: Bagan – Mandalay – Amarapura – Mandalay (Breakfast)

Transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Mandalay. Visit Mahamuni Pagoda and local artisanal gold leaf making, wood carving and marble carving workshops. Admire Golden Palace Monastery and continue to Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s largest book due to the Buddhist scripture carved on 729 marble slabs. End your day with a visit to a 200-year-old teak bridge, the most photographic site in Myanmar.

 

Day 5: Mandalay – Irrawaddy River – Mingun – Mandalay – Yangon (Breakfast)

Take a boat trip up Irrawaddy River to Mingun. Visit the Mingun Bell, Hsinbyume Pagoda and the unfinished Mingun Paya. Take a stroll through Mingun where local craftsmen craft artistic items like traditional basketry. After returning to Mandalay, visit the ruins of the Royal Palace. Transfer to the airport for your evening domestic flight to Yangon.

 

Day 6: Departure from Yangon (Breakfast)

Most of Myanmar has a tropical monsoon climate. Yangon’s average annual temperature is 27.3 °C, while the average annual rainfall is 2378 mm.Bagan’s average temperature is 27.1 °C, while the average rainfall is 1438 mm. Mandalay’s average temperature is 27 °C, while the average rainfall is 812 mm. Mingun’s average temperature is 27.0 °C, while the average rainfall is 801 mm.

The seasons in Myanmar are as follow:

  • Cool – November to February are the best months to visit because rain is unlikely and it is the least humid time of the year when air is warm and the clearest. Since this is the most comfortable time to visit, it is also the peak tourist season.
  • Hot – March to May are months that most of the country is intensely hot. Rain is also unlikely. Most of Myanmar can be dusty and hazy, hindering scenic views.
  • Rainy – June to October are monsoon months with high rainfall. Yangon and Irrawaddy Delta experience long and constant rainfall from June to August. Rain is less intense in September and October.
