Arguably the most historic and tradition-laden at sea, HAL was founded in 1873 sailing between Holland and New York. With more than 135 years of experience, Holland America Line is recognized as the world-class leader in the cruise industry's premium segment. Moreover, the 15 mid-size vessels are consistently rated among the highest and most preferred by cruise vacationers. Now its fleet carries more than 10 million passengers to all corners of the world.
Today, HAL has taken a new initiative, known as the "Signature of Excellence." This on-going program focuses on significantly enhancing the standard of premium cruising. Some $525 million will be spent on upgrading the fleet in areas of guest accommodations, public ambiance, dining, and service and enrichment programs.
