Hua Hin Golf Course

Best Of 8 Hua Hin Golf Courses

The Banyan Golf Club in Hua Hin is opened in October 2008, built among a pineapple plantation. Immediately, upon opening, the course was awarded 2009 Best New Course in Asia Pacific by the readers of Asian Golf Monthly. Since then Banyan golf course and clubhouse has steadily claimed ‘Top 3 in Thailand’ awards and been highlighted in the ‘Rolex Top 1000’ in the World.

The world class 18-hole championship golf course was designed by professional golf course architect Pirapon Namatra from Golf East and the course is recognized as one of the best layouts in the country.

The course is neatly integrated with an amazing mountain and oceanic views from most of the holes and has one of the best layouts in Thailand. Each hole has 6 tee boxes making the course suitable for golfers across different levels. Water hazards, waste bunkers and sand traps are strategically placed and spread out throughout the course. Significant use of native pineapple groves make local fruits come into play if straying too far off the fairways.

The Lake View Resort & Golf Club offers 36 holes of golf in Hua Hin. The golf course is warmly received by both residents and visitors to the area and is situated inland, surrounded by small farms and fruit orchids on a large parkland parcel. For many golfers, this is the most beautiful and smoothing golf course in Hua Lin.

The Lake View 18-hole A-B course features small streams and a large lake segregating the course in two segments. This, together with mature trees, blind shots to some greens, undulating fairways and several doglegs, test the skills of experienced and seasoned golfers. One of the toughest holes, the long par 3, 14th hole features a tee box on a small island and the green on another island, 210 yards away, entirely surrounded by water. There are quite a number of easy holes, making the course manageable for golfers with higher handicap.

The desert course (course C) is specially created such that each hole is different and each shot must be carefully planned. Combining these nine holes with those from the main course provides an extremely rewarding round of golf. The Lake View links course (course D) opened in late 2006, add a further nine holes to the three 9-hole golf courses. The course stretches over a relatively open area with some trees between the holes.

The clubhouse at Lake View Resort & Golf Club is simple and provides a smoothing atmosphere coupled with fine cuisine. The changing facilities are spacious, a grass driving range and short game practice areas are available for all golfers. The clubhouse also features a pool with golf course view and spa.

Majestic Creek Country Club is a difficult course that was rated by German magazine as Hua Hin’s best golf course. This view is being shared among many Hua Hin locals and expatriates. The country club is designed by Dr. Sukkitti Klangvisai, a professional Thai golf course designer who is also responsible for Phuket’s Loch Palm. Majestic Creek is perhaps the best laid out golf course in Hua Hin.

Majestic Creek Country Club is being built in the foothills 20 kilometers west of Hua Hun. The journey towards the course provides rural views of Thai life including sugar cane, tapioca, pineapple plantations and farms. The club has an all-round natural vista. Valleys in the nearby mountains supply water to the maze of streams winding around the course. Natural hazards are being carefully preserved to create tricky shots over the water.

The 7,123 yard layout provides a range of well-designed challenges all golfers. Seasoned golfers will look forward to the tough tee shots as many of which demands long water carries over lakes. Most of the holes have water hazards and excellent bunkering. To achieve a good score, precise shots and good nerves are needed.

Noteworthy holes include the final hole from course B; a long 588 yard par-5 that demands a long and accurate drive to find the ideal fairway position. After which, a stream and lake must be crossed before landing on the green.  The C course should not be underestimated as well. It has an amazing layout, nudging the mountains backing onto the Pranburi Dam. The last noteworthy hole is the Course B par-4 6th. After the drive off from the tee, the fairway is gently sloped from the left to right giving you great ball position. After the corner, enjoy one of the most beautiful looking shots at Majestic Creek. Finding the correct level on a 3 tiered green provides a chance for a birdie.Inaccurate approach shots will be swept into bunkers both right and left.

Palm Hills Golf Club is situated between Hua Hin and Cha Am, near the airport and on the lower foot hills above town. It was the first international standard Hua Hin golf course opened in 1992. The following year Palm Hills hosted the Inaugural Thailand World Pro Am tournament.

The golf course is laid out on a long strip of rolling terrain which gives the course a Scottish feel, differentiating itself from many courses in the area. The Max Wexler layout goes from east to west, with lakes at each end separated by the clubhouse and an interesting rocky outcrop extending from the mountain range.

The Palm Hills course is lined with palm trees and has plenty of hillside, hence the name Palm hills. Numerous brightly colored frangipani trees and bougainvillea shrubs add to the natural beauty. The last nine holes are situated on top of the mountains and provide majestic views of the Gulf of Thailand and Hua Hin. Palm Hills is one of the easier Hua Hin golf courses.

The Bermuda fairways are wide making the course popular for a range of golfers with different abilities and experience. However, strategically placed bunkers and water hazards ensure that it is still difficult to achieve a good score. On top of that, the greens can be the steepest in the Hua Hin.

The 10th to 14th holes are the best holes on the golf course which demands a well-placed shot. The signature hole is the 11th hole, a long par three uphill into the sea breeze and demands at least a long drive. The 14th 338 yard par four is one of the most interesting holes on Palm Hills. It has a dog-leg left with water guarding the inside and some of the fairway. Selecting the right club for tee off is extremely crucial. Try negotiating the drive well so that the hole will be an easy par or birdie.

Pan Hills Golf Club is a professionally well maintained course in Hua Hin. The course is a great getaway from a city lifestyle. It has a stunning landscape and at certain times of the year, the course is covered in exotic fragrance from the frangipani trees.

Royal Hua Hin Golf Course is unmistakably the oldest 18-hole international standard golf course in Thailand and is only 5 minutes from downtown Hua Hin. The course was commissioned in 1924 to accommodate the interests of the British railway workers and Thai aristocracy living in the area.

The course is built on natural terrain and set between some breathtaking rocky hills. Spectacular views of the Gulf of Thailand and the city center are possible from several holes. A major renovation in the 1980’s brought this course up to international standards, despite its age. Mature tree lined fairways are now abundant.

Your skills will definitely be tested here, with many tight tree-lined fairways, many nicely doglegging holes and relatively small circular greens to hit, greens are mostly elevated.

Royal_Hua_Hin_Golf_Course_Thailand

The bunkering is quite modest and the course condition might not be as manicured as some in the Hua Hin Region, but Royal Hua Hin has some very pleasing features in its treasure chest.

At par-3 14th, the signature hole, and the par-5 3rd, you have the opportunity to see temples clinging to the sides of tree-clad hills. While one side of the course is played under a scenic tree-clad rocky hill, the other side will provide occasional glimpses of the ocean from the two elevated sections of the course.

A remodeled club house creates a nice 19th hole to reflect on the golfers who have passed through the doors during the past century that Royal Hua Hin Golf Course has been around. Royal Hua Hin is a course that should be played at least once by every golf traveler to Hua Hin.

Sea Pines Golf Course (also known as Army Golf Club II) is constructed along the gulf of Thailand in the Suan Son Pradiphat (Sea Pine Tree Garden).

Most area within the Sea Pines are comprised of bracken pine trees and enriched by the beauty of oceans and mountains. The army originally developed the site as a form of retreat for serving soldiers and veterans and their families.

The Sea Pines Golf Course’s course design and layout have been developed to give golfers a wide range of challenge. Depending on wind conditions, the course difficulty will vary. The course is created with six holes lying on the beachside.

The dogleg, par-5 12th hole is one of the toughest, as the design affords it protection in the form of fairway bunkers and water hazard along the right-hand side. Moreover, a small bunker located in the middle of the fairway creates a dilemma – go for a driver from the tee, or ‘play it safe’ by opting for a ‘lay-up’ approach?

Sea_Pines_Golf_Course_Hua_Hin_Thailand

Along the stretch at Sea Pines, the sea breeze comes in play and the three final holes are among the best in Hua Hin golf. The 16th is a dogleg par-5 which demands a drive to a narrow fairway down the hill to avoid water hazards on both sides. Looking down at the hole for their second shot will give golfers an amazing view of the ocean and mountains. The most challenging part of the hole is the approach shot. One has to choose between slicing over the water/bunker onto the sloping green or take a safe route to the left side of the fairway.

The signature 17th is a par-3 which consists of a spectacular ocean view on the background. The tee shot is all carry over water and is comprised of wide undulating green that is well surrounded by beach bunker. Shots which are slightly longer or shorter will find themselves landing on the sand. The 17th may also be tougher depending on the wind and pin placement as this hole is played over a large lake onto peninsula green.

The Springfield Royal Country Club is located off the Hua Hin bypass road near Cha Am. The course is rated as one of the best Hua Hin golf courses and the traditional Jack Nicklaus layout has managed to uphold its reputation.

The course at Springfield Royal Country Club has been created to meet the high standards of a reputable championship golf course without compromising its ability to remain as an enjoyable challenge for golfers from all levels. Each hole has a minimum of five tees to play from, but only the bold and the experienced will embark on the black tee. Water hazards are quite frequent and each hole presents its own unique challenge and character requiring finesse or unrestraint. Being able to hit an accurate shot is required to score well as the rough is comprised of a series of hillocks and holes lined by a forest of mature trees. Jack Nicklaus designs love to catch player out who hits a poor weak fade and the back nine when lethargy kicks into your game. It can be punishing with either a huge waste bunkers or water on your right hand side and close to the fairway.

Springfield_Royal_Country_Club_Fairway2

Starting with a par-4, the first hole is a gentle 389 yards from blue tees and the hole looks quite simple. However, the well protected green proves to be difficult and requires high accuracy. As you end off your round, the par-5 18th and Springfield’s signature hole, demands one final perfect shot to a difficult island green. If you manage to hit a good drive over the tress of the dogleg left, then the green will be in sight for the second shot.

Springfield Royal offers other unbeatable facilities on top of the splendid course. The club house was built in an elevated position that will give you a lasting impression. The interior is neatly finished with polished marble & granite, and portrays lavishness; changing rooms are superb and even features a bar inside the locker rooms.
