The championship golf course offers a scenic and tough experience for all golfers. The carefully designed par 71 course measures 6,858 yards from the black tees and 6,281 from the blue tees. The golf course is highly reputable and professionally maintained and has hosted the MENA Tour Final in 2011, 2012 and 2013, a regional series for professionals and amateurs.
For the novice golfers, other tee boxes provide a shorter layout while conserving the outstanding features and hazards of the course. Water hazards come into play on eleven holes with tactically positioned bunkers and desert sand requiring careful shot placement throughout the course. GPS equipped power carts ensure accurate yardage measurement from all points on the course. The last nine holes are fully floodlit giving the chance to play golf long after the sun has set and avoid the scorching sun.

The Arabian Ranches Golf Club is a challenge for golfers across all abilities. Miss the immaculate grass of the fairways and greens and you may very likely enter the bunkers. The course fully utilizes the natural terrain with its indigenous shrubs and bushes.
Arabian Ranches (formerly known as the Desert Course) has a status among Dubai’s golfing community. It was undeniably the harshest course in the country but yet enjoyable for all golfers. The golf course is constructed through the wide desert scrub and its rippling fairways which can be hard to make out from the tee due to the flatness of the land.
While this isn’t a really long course from the blue tees, the emphasis is on accuracy of the tee shot. Slip off the fairway and you will undoubtedly add on another shot. The desert bush is located on every hole and the greens showcase some intimidating slopes. There is no distinct bunker or water hazard in the entire course. The sand that you will see is where the designers have permitted part of the desert to remain. However, these areas are seldom raked which makes them true hazards for even the best sand players.

The par 71 course that measures 6,967 yards is an unforgettable journey from the first tee to the 18th green. The fantastically trimmed fairways are undulating, defined by hills, date and palm trees and water. Apart from the Creek, which comes into play on at least four holes, some synthetic lakes complement the beauty and toughness of the golf course.
Fairways and greens are carefully maintained and trimmed which is a feature and it is highly difficult to par from tournament tees. The course is easier from the tees in front making it suitable for the novice golfers. While the length of the tee helps, the focus is undoubtedly on the accuracy of the approach shots because most of the greens are multi-tiered.
The course sets up for an exciting finale to a round with its two par 4 closing holes. The 17th and 18th have the Creek protecting the entire left side of the fairway. While the 17th can still be conquered with proper planning, the 18th requires intellectual participation on every shot.
There is water on the left and a long bunker on the right, beyond which is water again. A decent drive will still leave you with a long iron into the tiered and sloping green, which is guarded at the front and right by a water body. Golf does not end at sunset at Dubai Creek. The club is well-equipped with a driving range and the club’s outstanding practice facilities are all floodlit to allow play late into the night. The clubhouse has won numerous awards across the world and with the green lush fairways of the course lapping the shore of the creek.

The Faldo Course is the second championship golf course at the Emirates Golf Club. A Nick Faldo 2006 restructured, it was initially opened in 1996 and was debuted The ‘Wadi’, taken from the Arabic word for ‘valley’. In 2005, The Wadi was redesigned by six-time major winner Nick Faldo and the new ‘The Faldo’ re-opened in October 2006.
A 7,348 yard, par-73 is a tough layout with a course rating of 76/139 ie a scratch player playing from the back tees would play 76-72= 4 over the course! The 139 rating indicates how tough it would be for an 18 handicap player & indicates a very tough course. This is a well-lit course & is a well-received destination even during the summer months.
Faldo’s has integrated his traditional design ideology with the needs of the terrain here & used the natural Wadi that runs along the length of the course. The course is designed and equipped with plenty of water and most of its greens are strategically protected by bunkers, sand waste areas.
The clubhouse & practice facilities are first class – there are 2 pro shops – one in the main clubhouse, which is mostly for accessories & consumables & the other beside the driving range which houses a club fitting outlet with a vast range of golfing gear to select from.
The finishing Faldo Course hole 18 is a true test of a golfer’s courage. Every player is recommended to use a drive for the tee shot, but do not compromise accuracy of your short for distance as it is critical to get a shot capable of avoiding the waste area that cuts into the fairway on the right hand side. A wood or long iron is the natural choice for a second shot that also requires precision and nerve to move past the dramatic cluster of bunkers to the left, and the water guarding the right of the green. Upon landing on the green, most of the hard work is already done, but take time to read the slopes. Keeping your focus all the way to the end will pay dividends as a par on this hole makes for an exhilarating end to the round.

The Majlis championship course is a difficult par 72, 7,301-yard layout. The course is designed by Florida-based course architect Karl Litten, the original 18 holes were built in and along the banks of a lovely site on the edge of the city of Dubai, donated by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the desert flora was preserved in its natural state.
The course has earned a worthy reputation internationally as a testing layout for even the seasoned golfers. The course contains hundreds of local species of flora and fauna, beautifully supplemented by twisting fairways and seven distinct fresh and saltwater lakes.
The Majlis, the first grass course in the Middle East, attain its name from the Arabic word for ‘meeting place’. One of the most distinctive features on the course is the Majlis building itself, positioned between the 8th and 9th holes and a Dubai landmark since 1988.
Within a month of opening, the most significant regional golf tournament – the Pan-Arab – was held on the newly named Majlis Course. The club’s world-wide reputation was established in 1989 with its first European Tour event; the Dubai Desert Classic. Most of the world’s top players, including Tiger Woods and Ernie Els, have taken part in what is one of the European PGA Tour’s top events in this golf course.
One of the most challenging holes on the course is the par 4, dogleg 8th. Stroke index 3 and playing a full 434 yards, it has the unusual peculiarity of playing up-hill and demands a far reaching and well placed tee shot to leave an easier second shot to its small, undulating green where the dreaded 3-putt is always a threat.

The Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai has progressed into one of the Middle East’s most lavish and desired golfing destinations recently. The main reason for its success has always remained dependent upon the superb quality of the golf course.
The Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai’s championship golf course was designed by Colin Montgomerie in association with Desmond Muirhead. The course covers 265 acres which consist of 123 acres of turf, 49 acres of man-made lakes (a total of 14 lakes), and 93 acres of landscaped gardens and is scattered with 81 large bunkers.
The course gives player the undulating “links land” style fairways with generous landing areas which test and excites player across different levels. Despite having a huge area, the greens can be quite misleading as they are above 9.5 feet. Contours throughout the greens can result in very annoying putts.
The signature hole, is the par 5 fourth, known as the Snake hole for its saddleback fairway which doglegs towards the green, with 2 bunkers behind forming the eyes of the snake. Another hole, the par 5 ninth, with water down the left, is a harsh finish to the introductory half. The par 3 thirteenth, a hole designed in the shape of the UAE, claims a 360-degree teeing area around an island fairway and green.
The Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai holds two very different seasons of golf. During winter, the golf course is over-seeded whilst the summer season has the course back to a full stand of Bermuda grass. The grass growth is strong during the summer causing in a very difficult rough.
